“To make the interpretation of all financial data easier for app users, we decided years ago to start building an AI tool,” says Grassfeld founder Mo Radjab.“A tool that can answer questions in plain language based on someone's ownfinances.”

The underlying system
“Many companies looking to add AI to their product think of a chat window,” says Remko Brenters, Chief Technology Officer at Grassfeld. “That is only the exterior. Behind the chat window lies an entire system that must have very strict boundaries and must be slowed down in time if it threatens to cross aline.”
Grassfeld has worked on that system for years. Brenters: “Such a system only works if you clearly define what the model can and can not do. Otherwise, you just get confident nonsense. For example, Grassfeld Intelligence does not give you investment advice, tax advice, or market predictions. And, of course, it does not invent figures.”
Conversations only visible to the user
Furthermore, questions and answers are only visible to the user. “It is impossible forsomeone to see another user's data, not even by giving clever prompts or through a bug inthe system,” Brenters explains. “At the same time, we have built such a strong securitymechanism that a user cannot secretly make the system perform all kinds of forbiddenactions.”
